I've always loved this first page of the story "Ferdinand". I'm not sure why they felt that O needed to be so big, but I'm so glad they did. It feels so right. I love the way the line drawing underneath interacts with the negative space in the O.

The way he uses color on the character is very appealing. The overall tone of the work is very lowly saturated yet the smooth gradience on the character's skin gives moody effect.

The way he uses his atmosphere is very interesting here. He uses flat foreground and background to create a scene.

This is one of Istavan's general work that shows his concentration on the composition.

This is just one of the classical Fairy Tale artist, Froud's character. It is very stylized in trend yet it is one of the old classical illustration. 

Atmosphere/Adorable, Isabelle Arsenault

I wasn't able to find the title of this image, or what publication it is from, but I thought I'd still share it... it's one of my favorite illustrations. I love the whimsical and sweet atmosphere the artist created here. The fox and the girl look so genuinely happy. Also, the layering of textures is really beautiful. The more you look at it, the more layers you will see.
