There are a lot of unique things about the illustrations in this book, but the use of drawn type is what really struck me. Turner uses dotted lines, arrows, and seemingly random measurements and descriptions incorporated into her images. It feels fine-arty and quirky at the same time.

This creepy, green, round gravedigger character that Mark Fearing created is fantastic. He's just ugly enough to fit the scary setting, but also kind of endearing in his ridiculous "bulge-y-ness". Plus, look at the way the entire composition frames his body. And those colors. Everything = Awesome!
