Unique Composition and Color. Peter Brown. The Curious Garden.

Peter Brown blew my mind with The Curious Garden. The shape of this composition is a wonderful response to the text. While we usually consider large areas of white on a page to be "blank" or inactive space, the white margins of this page become integrated in the scene as melting snow. The resulting shape is a really lovely spot, with lively colors for such a discouraging picture of winter.

Amazing Layered Color. Catia Chien. The Sea Serpent and Me.

Really great use of harmonious warm and cool colors to create a lush, vibrant scene. Layers, textures and transparent areas add a lot of depth.

Composition, Olivier Tallec, Rita and Whatsit at the Beach

Tallec's combination of simple line drawing, subtle color, and unique character combine to make an interesting use of space and composition.  This page especially creates a dynamic scene with very little information.

Color: Mr. Peek and the Misunderstanding at the Zoo, Illustrated by Kevin Waldron

Kevin Waldron's colors in this book are unexpected and unordinary, yet make the image much more refined and interesting.

Character: Nasty Chipmunk by Idiot Book's

Very nasty indeed

Composition: an Awesome Book of Thanks! illustrated by Dallas Clayton

Amazing artistic solidity in style and use of spacing in spread pages. I love this work. His books are online to read in full at http://veryawesomeworld.com/awesomebook/inside.html
